Jackie Westrop

President

Our club in Downham Market is made up of people of many backgrounds. We have 22 active members of varying ages, and 7 honorary members.  As well as working to help the local, national and international communities we have a busy social life - something we consider vitally important.

We encourage members to take part in our charity work but there is no pressure to do so and everyone is free to give as much or little of their time as they feel able. Members attend as many meetings as possible but there is a great deal of flexibility.  Personal circumstances always come first. Perhaps your work precludes regular attendance at our meetings but this is no barrier to membership.

Our meeting venue is the The Chequers in Wimbotsham.  We meet there a couple of times a month on the 2nd and 4th Mondays (except bank holidays).   Our guest speakers are varied, we've had fantastic talks by Red Arrows pilots, major charities, a doll's house builder, F1 insiders, historians, a chef, sportsmen and women - you name the subject - we, and no doubt you, would be interested!

Oh, and to shatter a long held myth; yes, we do welcome lady members

And to shatter another myth; no you don't have to be a member of the so-called 'professional classes'!

If you decide that you would like to know more come and sit in on a few meetings - join us either at the Chequers in Wimbotsham.  You can then decide for yourself whether Rotary appeals to you. Alternatively, have a look at the Membership & eFriends page and our contact details on the 'Contact us' page .  Although regular meetings may not be your thing, you may be looking for a flexible way to give something back to the community.....

Rotary is a secular, non-political, organisation open to all - male and female, young and older.
